Steven - Salon Owner

Steven An Autobiography of Sorts

I started my career in Fashion and Textiles at Central St Martins in London where my first love for colour and texture developed but after graduating i quickly realised hair is the perfect material to work with.  To colour and manipulate when cutting and styling, changing the way hair looks and feels was very much like fabric to me... so that's when my love affair with hair began.

Next i started cut and colouring friends and family's hair (and anyone else I could get my hands on) in my mum's kitchen, which was where my passion for hairdressing came from.

Experimenting and changing the way people close to me looked and finding the best styles for their personalities and features got me hooked.

After a few glorious years in Manchester, I returned to my old training ground of Bournemouth and started developing and honing my skills.

It was there that I opened my first salon, and managed to gain an excellent reputation by being voted 'One of the top ten salons to visit in the south' by Cosmopolitan Magazine. In 2002 my reputation kind of went into overdrive when I was placed in the grand final of the L'Oreal Colour Trophy.

From there I was fortunate enough to be involved in many fashion shows and shoots including tending to the needs of a host of celebrity clients.

My work has been featured in major magazines such as Elle, Marie Clair, Hair Now, Hairdressers Journal, Wed Magazine, Brides and a two front covers for dv8. And also completed a seven page editorial for Vogue Magazine.

Since then my life just seemed to go a little bizarre when I was asked to do the Clothes Show Live and London Fashion Week.

I also became an "Elite Hair Adviser" on hit Channel 4 program 'Ten Years Younger' and The Big Breakfast alongside numerous Major TV shows.

I am used to working with highly trained and dedicated team whose philosophy is to provide all clients with individual attention and service of the highest standards.

With a solid foundation of hairdressing experience I very much enjoy making Steven and Laurent Hairdressers a successful and progressive salon".
