Bumble and Bumble Dryspun Finish

It seems that the only hair products I use these days are by Bumble and Bumble and my gosh are they fabulous... I don't think I've come across anything I haven't liked yet and my latest obsession is the BB Thickening Dryspun Finish hair spray, something I didn't think I'd like and one of those products that always makes your hair look incredible after leaving the hairdressers. I did worry I wasn't going to be able to make this work for me, I have quite a dry scalp when I use dry shampoo type products and can be quite sensitive to them also so when I found out this worked well for me it made it's way into my weekly hair routine!

The BB Dryspun Finish is basically a dry shampoo and a finishing hairspray rolled into one, it creates instant fullness and texture to my lifeless 3 day hair and gives it the life it needs without weighing it down or making it feel heavy. This product can be used on all hair types, I have quite thick hair although it can be very flat so it really works well adding that extra oomph and it's also appropriate for colour treated hair thankfully.

I like to use this either straight after blowdrying if I'm after a little more texture or after a couple of days when my hair starts to look a little limp and lifeless, it's perfect to spray onto freshly curled locks as it gives that extra body and texture without making it look crispy or too 'done' like some hair sprays can sometimes do. I really love this finishing spray and I'd highly recommend it if you have thin or lifeless hair that needs some texture and fullness without the backcombing and heavy feeling.

If you're struggling with flat and lifeless hair then ask in the salon for a try of the Bumble and Bumble Dryspun spray, it's pretty fabulous!

What's New // Olaplex

I thought I'd give you all a little update on what's been going on in the salon lately, we have lots of news and opportunities at the moment and lots of exciting things happening.

Here at Steven & Laurent we are always looking for ways to help and improve the quality of your hair, we do this with fabulous cuts and colours and we have also just introduced a brand new and revolutionary, ingredient to our colours called OLAPLEX. This is an upgrade service for hair colouring, OLAPLEX™ is a single active ingredient, designed to reconnect the disulphide sulfur bonds broken by the process of permanent hair colouring and lightening. OLAPLEX™ is free of silicones, oils, aldehydes and parabens and it is rumoured that Kim Kardiashian wouldn't have been able to go the Platinum Blonde colour she went without it, it adds colour, strength and shine... who doesn't want that!

I had this extra treatment last time I was in the salon and I'm delighted to say it's worked wonders on my hair. I have blonde hair as you all know and the texture of my locks have always been a little dry around the front and I've noticed that it's a lot smoother since having Olaplex, I can't wait to have it again next time I'm in the salon as I know after multiple treatments you really feel the benefit.

Ask in salon for your colour upgrade and enter a whole new world of fabulousness!

Bumble and Bumble Thickening Creme Contour Review

Since cutting all my hair off into a bob I've found styling my hair an absolute dream I've really been enjoying playing around with new products and styles. I have to admit I have stuck to straight and sleek for quite a while but recently I've become little more adventurous adding a little more texture and volume and I've come across the most fabulous product to help with that. I'm quite lazy when it comes to hair washing and styling so when I came across this Bumble and Bumble product that allowed me to be lazy and still create a fabulous yet effortless bed head style I fell in love.

I was first introduced to the Creme Contour when Sarah used it on me hair after we first chopped off my locks, she explained this works well on all hair types and perfect to shape shorter cuts like mine. It's a shaping cream that you warm up between your fingers to create a light weight paste and work into the hair to shape and hold your style. It works amazingly well with curls and waves especially in hair like mine, but don't be fooled it works with sleek and straight locks too adding texture and volume it holds so well and is weightless on the hair too.

I have to say I was a little worried this would make my hair feel greasy and I thought I wouldn't really know how to use it but after first use it was love and I have been using it ever since, I no longer have to back comb my hair for volume which is so damaging for my hair, I can now be kind to it by using the Creme Contour and it's just perfect for those that work so hard blowdrying their hair to get that beautiful voluminous style but struggle to keep that hold and lift, you need the tiniest amount as a little goes a really long way but let me tell you the Creme Contour is going to hold that baby like no other!

Have you tried any of the Bumble and Bumble styling range? Ask one of the salon stylists about products that would suit your hair type we are always happy to help!

Getting the chop this Summer!

With Summer on it's way I have been toying around with the idea of having my hair chopped off and brightened up a little. I did keep talking myself out of it until today, I thought let's go for it hair grows! This morning I went to my appointment at Steven & Laurent, you may remember a post on my hair a few months ago now which you can see here on my first transformation at Steven & Laurent. As you know these guys never fail I always have such fantastic results, I'm so happy with my new style it's so much lighter and I think it's going to be much easier to style this Summer.

So here's my before and after, I love doing these because you really get to see the transformation although I wish I took photos of the back to show you before and after because that's even more of a transformation. As you can see before my hair was just looking a little lifeless and dull, I hadn't had it coloured since February and as I had Balyage before it was looking like my roots were even longer! The style before was just long with a few layers, nothing too special as I usually focus on my colour and just grow my hair all the time. Today I fancied a change I wanted a long bob also known as The Lob, my hairdresser Sarah cut it so it was longer around the front of my face to frame it nicely and slightly shorter at the back and I love it! I haven't had hair this short in a long time, I can't wait to start having a play around with it and styling it more often. I was finding with my hair before I'd get so lazy with it because it took so long to do so I'm hoping I'll have more time now and make a little more effort with the new style I have.

Moving on to the colour the blonde is now a lot fresher and brighter, even lighter in person I'd say. We went away from the Balyage this time and went blonde from root too tip, Sarah did foils down my parting and all around my hair line then painted some colour on free hand underneath for a more natural effect. Once the colour was washed off we added toner to make the colour look nice and creamy, It looks really fab I'm so happy with it!

What do you think of my new shorter do'? Have you thought about having the chop for the Summer ask for your stylists advice next time your in the salon!

2015 Hair Colour Trends & Some EXCITING NEWS!

We are so Very Excited to share the news with you, we have just got through to the Regional Finals of the 60th Anniversary of the L'Oreal Colour Trophy..!! Lets celebrate! I'm going to talk you through a few of our top colour trends for 2015.

Ice Ice Baby
If you haven't seen Kimmy Ks new do' yet then where have you been?! Ice white hair is totally going to be on trend this year, I'm a huge fan of platinum hair and although it may not suit everyone if Kim Kardashian can pull it of then who says you can't! I'm totally in love! Top Tip: Use silver shampoo to stay away from brassy tones, we want to keep that hair looking ice white!

Strong Streaks
For those who are loving the 90's right now strong streaks are the way to go, adding a few chunky pieces of colour really add that edge to your look and look absolutely gorgeous with soft curls and layered styles.

Babylights are perfect for those who don't want full on highlights but just want to brighten up the hair slightly, they look super natural and just add a little more dimension to your look and colour. This would be perfect for those that are always on the go and don't have too much time because maintenance is super easy with little upkeep and you can let it naturally grow out.

Soft Reds
I seriously love red heads, I have never been brave enough to go red all over but it's definitely something I've considered. 2015 is the year of the red head and you can go red too! Soft reds and honey hues are super on trend and I just adore the colour, super fresh, pretty and vibrant!

A Hint of This..
A huge trend I'm seeing right now are hints of colours, blues, pinks, purples and even grey/silver hair! You don't have to go full blown colour but by adding a hint of colour can really switch up your look for the season and keep you on trend!
What's your favourite look for 2015, any of these you want to try? Call the salon to book in now!

Bumble & Bumble Blow Dry Range

Let's just say I'm not really one to blow dry my hair very well, I need all the help I can get and that's where these amazing creams from Bumble & Bumble come in. I have been trying all three over the past three months and I feel I can now tell you about them all and how they've worked for me and how they can work for you.

BB Straight Blow Dry

I have been using this when I want sleek, straight locks as you can imagine from the name it does what it suggests and leaves you with beautifully straight hair. All of these Blow dry creams are heat activated so you need to blow dry your hair in order to get it working, I was a little worried about that because I tend to rough dry my hair a lot or use a paddle bush but using a paddle brush thankfully has worked fine it's very lightweight and I'd say perfect for those with super curly, thick, unmanageable locks.

BB Repair Blow Dry

So we've all been there right? Over processed hair, I've got it! Luckily after having the chop a couple of months ago my hair feels restored and healthy again, to maintain that I like to use this when I have straightened my hair a little too much or it's feeling a little dry and worse for wear. My hair definitely feels smoother after using this, I can notice that it's sealed those split ends and keeps my style looking fresher for longer which is great. I'd recommend using this when you hair is feeling a little brittle from over processing or heat styling and to just pop on to mid lengths and ends for a real freshen up.

BB All-Style Blow Dry

My favourite creme of them all is All-Style, it's definitely the one I reach for the most because it includes oil absorbing powders to extend the life of your hair. My hair only gets washed twice a week so it's prone to getting a little oily after day 2 so to make sure I get the most out of my washes and styling I opt for this one quite a lot. It definitely helps my hair look fresher for longer and gives a nice smooth finish which is what I'm after. You can use this from root to tip and a little goes a very long way, I always make sure I rub the product in then brush through to make sure it's been distributed evenly and it works great that way for me.

Which do you think would work best for you, my personal favourite is All-Style.

Adding colour is always a fun way to change up your hair, pastels are a great and subtle way to switch up your look and we have a range of ways we can do this by adding semi permanent colours or even hair chalks and sprays for those who want something fun yet easy to wash out. We have some  great Bumble & Bumble hair sprays in the salon so next time your in and your feeling experimental then just ask and we can get colourful!

Braids are a super quick and easy way to switch up your look either at home or in the salon, there are so many kinds of braids and styles you can do including half up half down, all up, a pony or even creating your very own hair headband! The opportunities are endless, whats your favourite braid to do?

Colour and braids not enough for you? How about The Cut, there are so many ways you can change your hair style with a good cut, be it just a trim up to bring back the life to your super dry locks or a fringe to change up the way your hair frames your face, my favourite is the Midi bob it's so chic and perfect for Summer!
What will you be doing this year to change up your look, will you be adding a splash of colour or going for the chop! I'd love to know.

Product of the Week | Bumble and Bumble Quenching Complex

IMG 0475

Hey guys! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all! Today on the Steven & Laurent blog we are talking product of the week and it's perfect for thirsty haired girls out there, and yes I know theres alot of us! Ever since my first appointment with Steven & Laurent I have been obsessed with Bumble and Bumble, the brand has worked wonders on my hair in the salon and at home so today I thought I'd share with you one of my favourite products so far. My hair journey has been quite up and down this year, I've bleached my hair a lot.. ignored it a lot by rarely having it cut and still colouring on top of that, not to mention the constant straightening! Yes it's been a tough year for my hair but I'm glad to say things are on the up and it's never felt better.

I was introduced to Bumble and Bumble Quenching complex when I was last at the salon and Sarah, the stylist who was cutting my hair mentioned that this is one of her favourite products and insisted on putting it on my hair, when I left the salon my hair felt silky smooth and so soft... was this just a one off, my hair always feels great when I leave the salon, surely this Quenching Complex couldn't have fixed my dry, over processed hair? I'm glad to say after weeks of using this little potion my hair has never felt better, usually when I do my own hair at home regardless if I've just been to the salon or not it always seems to feel quite dry a day or two after straightening. We all know I'm quite lazy in the washing department, I wash my hair probably 2-3 times a week so finding products that help to prolong my style and keep it feeling nice is essential.

What is this Quenching Complex you ask? It's a daily leave-in treatment that quenches the cuticle smooth, and seals in moisture. That added moisture really has helped to renew and give shine to my hair again, it's been created for terribly thirsty hair that suffers from chronic dryness, or repeated heat styling... hands up if that you. I apply a small amount to my hair after washing to mid-lengths and ends and also to my hair when it's dry daily, you only need a pea sized amount as a little goes a long way. This product is light on the hair, non greasy and keeps all flyaways at bay, it's strengthening and a joy to use. If your looking for something to reinvent your hair in a better way for 2015 I'd definitely recommend this fab little product.

Bumble and Bumble is vastly becoming my favourite hair brand ever! Have you tried any Bumble products before?
