10 HAIR HACKS YOU NEED TO KNOW

b2ap3_thumbnail_hair-hacks-X_20170531-095149_1.jpg

Hack #1

If you know you're not going to have time to wash your hair in the morning, apply dry shampoo the night before. This is the best time because the dry shampoo will work itself into your strands overnight giving you fresh looking locks and added volume in the morning. Need a new dry shampoo? Try our Shu Uemura Color Lustre Dry Cleaner, it's fab and smells amazing!

Hack #2

Oily hair? Ever wondered why your hair is oily and flat, even after washing? Oily hair attracts a lot of dirt and grease, this is very hard to get rid of with one rinse. Make sure you shampoo your hair twice in the shower to make sure your hair is squeaky clean. Your hair will be left smoother and more voluminous.

Hack #3

Bobby pins constantly sliding out of your hair? Spray them with hairspray for that extra grip. Tip: Always lose your bobby pins? Pop them in a tic tac container to keep them together. Decorate with some washi tape to make it look extra pretty.

Hack #4

If you are scared to try permanent colours but want to try something new then try some fun spray in colours. These are temporary and are perfect for the festival season. While you're at it why not try the glitter parting, glitter makes everything better right?

Hack #5

Flyaways or baby hairs bugging you? Spray a clean mascara wand or toothbrush with some hairspray to tame those flyaways. Nobody wants a sleek pony with random fluffy bits!

Hack #6

Got a date planned and you want to make sure you are smelling extra fabulous? Make your hair smell amazing too by spritzing your hairbrush with your favourite perfume, brush through gently and Voila! Gorgeous smelling locks!

Hack #7

Thin hair-line or greys coming through? Use an eyeshadow close to your hair colour and dust it over the sparse/grey areas. This makes the hair appear thicker and hides those greys for a few more days!

Hack #8

Curly haired girls, swap towels for tees. Towels lead to frizz. Instead, consider opting for a t-shirt to dry your hair and enjoy the benefits of being frizz-free. Give it a try, it really does help!

Hack #9

Always clog the sink when washing your hair? Brush before to get any loose and/or tangled hair out. My husband always thanks me for this!

Hack #10

Hair looking dull, lifeless and a little boring? Come visit us at the salon, we are always here to make you feel amazing!

I hope you enjoyed these hair hacks, I'd love to hear yours!

How To Restore And Repair Damaged Hair || Best Products and Treatments

 b2ap3_thumbnail_shu-u_20170415-073349_1.jpg

It's no secret, I like to over bleach my hair and have it as blonde as possible but with that comes damage. Unfortunately when going super blonde damage can't really be avoided but there are many products out there to help repair and improve the hairs texture and feel. First of all it's very important to have regular trims to ensure those dead ends stay well away and there are also some great treatments and products you can use to keep your hair as healthy as possible.

Being blonde these days is much easier than it used to be, there are amazing salon treatments that you can have during the colour process which is something I have every time without fail. Smartbond is a unique system by L'Oreal that protects and strengthens the hair during technical services (such as bleach and haircolour). The system consists of 3 components, the first 2 being used in salon and the 3rd one at home. It has made the world of difference to my hair colouring experience and I'd highly recommend trying this service if you haven't yet.

Next up let's talk products. Here at Steven & Laurent we take great pride in making sure your hair looks it's very best at all times and we have the products that can help you achieve the same looks we create at home. We now stock Shu Uemura products, a luxurious brands with products to match. Shu Uemura was named after its founder and legendary Japanese make-up artist, has been breaking the boundaries of beauty for over 50 years.

There are a few products I've been using on my hair since having it coloured at the salon and I have to say they have made a huge difference. Let me talk you through some of my favourite products, these were recommended to me when I was in the Salon last and they've made my hair feel great.

Ultimate Remedy Shampoo
A unique and innovative shampoo designed specifically for damaged hair. Featuring Lotus Infusion and Ceramide 1000 PPM technology to restore the strength of hair fibres, this shampoo purifies and gently cleanses to leave you with luscious locks. Also working to rebalance the scalp and infuse the hair with natural goodness, your hair will transform from dull, damaged and lifeless to healthy, voluptuous locks with a salon fresh shine.

Ultimate Remedy Masque
A restorative hair masque designed to treat damaged hair. Featuring Lotus Infusion and Ceramide 1000 PPM technology, this masque strengthens and solidifies hair fibres to leave hair feeling improved with a soft and flexible feel.

Ultimate Remedy Serum
Designed for use on ultra-damaged hair, this dual-chambered leave-in formula features a cream with powerful ceramide 2000 PPM technology, and a serum rich in lotus infusion to control frizz, hydrate and deeply nourish. Its revolutionary formula keeps the hair fibre sealed and imparts lavish shine whilst ultimately protecting.

When it comes to styling it's also very important to use the right products. I'm not really one to use too many products as I like my hair to feel as lightweight as possible, I find that some products can really weight my hair down and the style doesn't last long if I have product overload but these three have been working amazingly well on my hair.

b2ap3_thumbnail_shu.jpg

I always keep this Travel Sized Essence Absolue on me, I tend to use it when my hair is feeling a little dry or looking a tad frizzy and it really helps to tame. This is basically a nourishing and lightweight treatment that will give you silky soft, tangle free hair. Infused with Camellia Oil to protect the hair fibre, this innovative formula combats frizz and dryness.

Before I dry my hair I tend to spitz some of the Shu Uemura Straightforward Time-Saving Blow Dry Oil. It has been designed for medium to thick hair delivering a faster blow dry while the oil based formula coats every strand for smoother, sleeker and shinier hair. I did worry that with it being a dry oil it would leave my hair quite oily but it actually leaves it frizz-free, sleek and gorgeous!

I hope you found this helpful, when you are next in the salon or have five minutes free come and talk to our friendly staff to see what products they can recommend you from Shu Uemura. Everyone needs to try this brand!

5 New Winter Hair Colours

Autumn and winter is a great time to switch up your hair colour, traditionally many go darker for the colder months but that doesn't mean you have to. Read this post to hear about some fab new hair colours for winter, I hope they inspire you.

rose gold hair

Rose Gold

Whether it's just a simple hint of rose gold by adding some subtle highlights or the full shebang, this is a huge trend and a pretty one too. We all love a bit of rose gold right? So why not translate that in our hair colour, I actually tried out the rose gold trend earlier on in the year by adding a pretty pink, peach and lilac toner to my hair. It was subtle, pretty and washed out really easily so it's a really fab way to add a temporary bit of colour to you hair.

raven black hair

Raven Black

Ah a classic, if you already have quite dark hair and fancy a change but don't want to go lighter than why not go even further into the dark side and dye your hair a beautiful raven black. Simplistic yet classic, who doesn't want to look like Adriana Lima?!

creamy blonde

Creamy Blonde

Who says you have to go dark in the winter? I'm actually about to lighten up my locks and opt for a creamy blonde this month and I couldn't be more excited. If you are not a fan of completely blonde locks then you can be subtle and go for more of a dark roots blonde ends look, roots are in and they are way easier to maintain so embrace them! White winter snow, blonde tresses and faux fur. I'm there!

sepia hair

Sepia

Sepia, no it's not just an Instagram filter. It's also a very popular hair colour and huge this AW. Think caramel and pink hues with a slight ashy tone. A really simple look to achieve and maintain, gorgeous!

red hair

Born This Way Red

Reds are always huge in the winter but how about switching it up from cherries or magentas and go for a true-born this way red, against softer and porcelain complexions this is just a stunning look. So natural yet very eye-catching, warm and inviting.

Will you be switching up your colour for AW?

Olaplex No.3, is it worth the hype?

olaplexno3

You all know I'm a huge fan of the Olaplex treatment, I've been having it for quite some time now in fact probably around 7 months or so but I have only recently tried out the No.3 at home treatment so thought I'd share with you all what I think of it today and if it's worth the hype it's been getting.

WHAT IS THE OLAPLEX NO. 3 HAIR PERFECTOR?
"Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector is your client’s retail portion of the Olaplex System and contains the same active ingredient as both the No.1 and No. 2. This enables the client to repair and maintain strong, healthy hair in between services as it continues to link bonds within the hair." Olaplex

Olaplex No.3 is an at home treatment that is recommended to use once a week, I have been doing as recommended and apply it to damp hair before washing and leave it on for around 10 minutes and sometimes even longer if I have things to do around the house, it's not a leave in conditioning treatment so always wash it off. My hair is blonde and coloured regularly so I have been after something to give it that extra boost between colours and really give it some life and shine, my hair is also naturally quite wavy and therefore I straighten it a lot so it's constantly got heat on it which isn't great which is why I always opt for Olaplex in the salon.

How my hair has changed since using the No.3 at home treatment is pretty incredible, I have added shine to my hair which I never thought I could achieve and the curl that had almost vanished has bounced back! I can now wear my hair natural without it looking like a frizzy mess, it's definitely down to the Olaplex because I have been using the same styling products throughout and the main difference began when I started No.3 at home so the answer to your question, is Olaplex No.3 worth the hype? Yes it most definitely is, I'd highly recommend it and would suggest giving it a whirl next time you opt for the Olaplex treatment it's definitely an added treat and will really give your hair a new lease of life.

Have you tried Olaplex yet?
